Ports of Call is a computer game belonging to the economic simulation genre . It was published by the company Aegis Interactive Software in 1987 for Amiga 500/600 ( OCS / ECS ) and 1990 for IBM PCs , whereby the Amiga version was graphically and sonically superior, corresponding to the then rather limited multimedia capabilities of the PCs. In a new version (XXL), the game can now also be played on the PC in contemporary graphics, including port entrances and exits in 3D. The game is now also available for Android and iOS devices (iOS 3–10 only).

action

The player is the owner of a shipping company and at the beginning of the game buys some ships to transport goods across the oceans. It is not only important to have a lucky hand in trading and the choice of the freighter, but also a little dexterity, because the player often has to maneuver his ship into the destination port himself and control speed and course. Sometimes you have to move your own ship through reefs or the like. The graphics are quite simple and take place from above. There is also a weather system that can get you caught in a storm on the high seas. Entering ports in the world's hot spots also carries high risks such as pirates and contagious diseases.

If you can make the shipping company successful in the black, you have the opportunity to buy high-tech ships. If you slide deep into the red, however, a bankrupt vulture ends the game.
