Salbke post office around 1900

The post office was built in 1893 as the Imperial Post Office Salbke. The Gasthof zur Eiche , which was already entered on maps from 1841 , had previously been at the site . The design of the post office came from the master mason Hermann Schrader, who also carried out the construction himself on behalf of the Magdeburg postal administration . A striking two-story building was created. Neo-Gothic elements can be found in the architectural style of the red brick building . Both the counter hall and other service rooms were located on the ground floor . A small single-storey extension on the south side was added later in the same architectural style. A service apartment was located on the upper floor. In the gable of the house was a picture of a Prussian eagle . There was a fence facing the street to match the style of the building.

Use as a post office has meanwhile ended. Instead, the house is now used for residential purposes. A letterbox is still attached to the street front today , which still reminds of the original purpose of the house.
