Post Oberwiesen
Supported by the Austrian genius troops officially melee conditioning Oberwiesen called fortress (1,517 m, Italian Avamposto Oberwiesen , Forte di Sotto ) is a barrier defensive position of the Austro-Hungarian plant Lusern above the village Lusern in the highlands of Folgaria (Vielgereuth) , Lavarone (Lafraun) and Lusern southeast of Trento .
The Lusern plant only had a limited line of sight in the direction of the main battle line at that time in the Astico valley, to the neighboring Gschwent plant and to the communications control center of the Austro-Hungarian high command on Monte Rust near Chiesa (Lafraun plateau). The Lusern plant was therefore given two upstream external positions or close combat systems during construction: Oberwiesen to the west and Viaz to the south, whereby Oberwiesen also functioned as a relay station for the optical transmission of messages by means of a light signal between Gschwent and Lusern.
Geographical location
The Oberwiesen hand-to-hand combat facility is located directly above the town of Lusern, on the western slope of the Costa Alta foothills, visible from afar as the location of a relay station for mobile telephony. The ascent begins at the “House of Prükk” museum from the village of Lusern.
The facility is connected to the Lusern plant via a system of paths that ends in the re-accessible connecting tunnel between the access road and Viaz. The distance to the main plant is around 400 meters.
Military equipment
There were two machine guns in an armored casemate by the rest bench, also on the north side. Steps and a wooden ladder lead up to the former observation armored dome with two machine guns. The crew of the melee system consisted of an officer and 33 soldiers.
On the lower floor, in the outer walls, there are the mounts of the opto-mechanical telegraph for communication with Monte Rust (high command) and the Gschwent and Cherle / Sebastiano plants .
