The Postal Museum in Stockholm dedicated to the history of the post in Sweden .

history

The museum was founded in 1906. At that time it comprised some rooms in Stockholm's oldest post office, which was located at Lilla Nygatan 6 in the Gamla stan district. The museum has now expanded to include the whole house.

The current museum director is Pernilla Klingofström (as of 2011).

Since 1926 there has been a support group for the museum called Postmusei Vänner . In April 2011 it had around 1,800 members.

Exhibitions

In addition to the permanent exhibition, which mainly shows the history of letters ( Brevet - en resa genom sekler ) and postage stamps ( Märkvärdigt! ) In Sweden, the museum has enough space for changing exhibitions. Their topic was z. B. 2011 artist letters.

Since 1996, children have also had the opportunity to play in the Museum Post. This area is called Lilla Posten . The museum has a library with around 12,000 volumes, a philatelic collection of around four million postage stamps, and a publication point. These are combined with other services in the Post F @ ktum area.
