Postural control

Biomechanical study of balance during pregnancy .

As Postural control the power of the human body is called, under the influence of gravity to maintain an upright body position.

This means that the body is able to automatically balance itself in an upright position, both statically and in motion, e.g. B. in sports. The forces acting on the body are compensated so that it is kept in a mostly dynamic equilibrium. The internal forces (movements of the body itself) and external forces (gravity etc.) acting on the body are constantly compensated .

Postural control is based on the central nervous processing of perceptions of the vestibular organ , the visual system , proprioceptors and exteroception as well as on the mental anticipation of future movement sequences ( anticipation ) and is achieved by controlling the muscles that are adapted to the respective situation.

The postural control can be measured with the clinical measurement method of posturography .
