Posturography

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

The Posturography (equilibrium analysis) is a method for determining the operability of the equilibrium regulation under load of the lower extremities.

The center of gravity and the vibration behavior of the body and the load distribution over the feet are determined using a measuring platform that uses force sensors to determine and record the weight shifts . The data on the vibration behavior and the load distribution are considered indicators for balance, stability and symmetry. The results of the measurements provide information for diagnosis and therapy.

The procedure is the digital technical advancement of the Romberg test . As with this, the visual control of the balance is switched off and the function of the vestibulospinal system can be checked and objectified with this procedure.
