Povoação Velha (in Cape Verdean Creole [ALUPEC]: Povoason Bédja ) is a village in the southwest of the island of Boa Vista from Cape Verde , about 25 kilometers south of the island's capital Sal Rei and 15 kilometers south of Rabil .

Povoação Velha has about 300 inhabitants. It is the oldest place on the island. The Nossa Senhora da Conceição church dates back to 1828.

The place is considered the poorest on the island.
