The Poype des Fées ( German  fairy moth ) is a reconstructed moth (tower hill castle) in the west of Buellas in the Ain department in France . It can be seen from the bridge of the D 45 over the Vieux Jonc river .

history

At the beginning of the 20th century there were still 150 poypes in the Ain department. In Buellas, the Poype was destroyed by its owner in 1786.

In 1989 the idea arose to build a moth in Buellas based on the example of the historical Poype des Fées. For this purpose, the municipality made a piece of land available that is a few hundred meters from the historic site. In 1992 the trench was dug and built with the excavation of the mound. After the earth had settled, the acacia palisade was built in 1996 , and the tower followed in 2001.

description

The earth for the construction of the Poype comes from the ditch. On the hill there is a tower surrounded by a palisade. A footbridge made it possible to cross the moat in order to reach the kennel , which was also surrounded by a moat and protected the residents and their animals.
