Prefectural roads ( jap. 都道府県道 , todofuken-do , then, in individual cases, depending on the prefecture name Todo , Dodo , Fudō or kendo ) are roads in Japan , the respective Prefecture managed. The route is approved by the Governor and the Prefectural Parliament. Special regulations apply to large cities ( seirei shitei toshi ). The prefecture assigns the number; in addition to the number, it can also be given a name.

Hexagonal blue signs with a white border are used to mark a prefecture street. Above the number of the street is "Prefecture street" and below the number the name of the prefecture.
