The Shizuoka Prefectural University ( Japanese 静岡 県 立 大学 , Shizuoka-kenritsu daigaku ) is a public university in Japan . The main campus is located in Yada, Suruga-ku , Shizuoka in Shizuoka Prefecture .

history

The university was founded in 1987 through the merger of the following prefectural universities: Shizuoka Pharmaceutical University ( 静岡 薬 科 大学 , Shizuoka yakka daigaku ), Shizuoka Women's University ( 静岡 女子 大学 , Shizuoka joshi daigaku , founded in 1967) and Shizuoka Women's Short University ( Shizuoka)女子 短期 大学 , Shizuoka joshi tanki daigaku , founded in 1951).

Shizuoka Pharmaceutical University

In 1916, the private Shizuoka Pharmaceutical School ( 静岡 女子 薬 学校 , Shizuoka joshi yaku gakkō ) was founded. The founder was an ophthalmologist. The school survived the difficult time after the death of the founder (1925). In March 1945 it developed into the Shizuoka Pharmaceutical School for Women ( 静岡 女子 薬 学 専 門 学校 , Shizuoka joshi yakugaku semmon gakkō ). In 1950 it became a coeducational school and was renamed the Shizuoka Pharmaceutical College. From 1952 it was worn by Shizuoka Prefecture.

In 1953 it developed into the Shizuoka Pharmaceutical University. Its former campus is now the Oshika campus of the Department of the Short University.

Further development

The university initially had four faculties (pharmacy, nutrition, international relations, and business administration and computer science) and the department of the short university. In 1989 the university (except for the department of the short university) moved to the new Yada campus. In 1996 the Faculty of Nursing Science was added.
