Premolarization

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

A Prämolarisation is a form education disruption of upper canines , more rarely, the incisors of the permanent teeth.

It is characterized by the formation of a palatal cusp, which gives the tooth roughly the shape of a premolar. Such additional cusps are very rarely found on the lower anterior teeth or on the vestibular part . If the mesiodistal extension of the palatal cusp is narrow and curved like a claw, it is called the “claw cusp ”.

Apart from a possible cosmetic impairment, this anomaly is usually of no consequence, but in rare cases it can lead to occlusal disorders. If the additional cusp is ground off for this reason, the pulp (dental pulp ) is easily exposed .

Claw bumps are considered pathognomonic (indicative of a disease) for Rubinstein-Taybi syndrome .

Premolarization should not be confused with premolarization , a special form of hemisection .
