Presidential Salute

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

A presidential salute is a song or melody in honor of the head of state of a republic . In countries that know such a salute, it is usually heard for representational purposes at public appearances by the head of state. Occasionally - as in the case of the USA - the protocol also provides for a specific salute for certain incumbents below the rank of head of state, for example for the vice-president. The presidential salute can also consist of parts of the national anthem.

In monarchies, the royal hymns correspond in many respects to the presidential salute .
