Próspero Bisquertt
Próspero Bisquertt (born June 8, 1881 in Santiago de Chile ; † February 8, 1959 ibid) was a Chilean composer , conductor, pianist and teacher.
Bisquertt headed the Instituto de Extensión Musical at the University of Santiago from 1940 to 1945 .
He composed a Zarzuela , an opera “Sayeda”, 1929, which was so successful that he received a pension from the President of the Republic in order to perfect his knowledge and promote his creations, as well as programmatic piano and orchestral music (including Poema Sinfónico , 1945). His most important works include “Primavera Helénica” and “Taberna al amanecer” and the military anthem “Libertador General Bernardo O'Higgins” based on a text by the poet Samuel Lillo Figueroa .
In 1936 he was one of the founders of the national composers' association. In 1957 he received the national art award.
