Praia da Vagueira
Praia da Vagueira is a Portuguese village and beach . The place belongs to the municipality of Freguesia of Gafanha da Boa Hora , in the district of Concelho of Vagos , in the district of Aveiro .
geography
The place is surrounded by the Atlantic Ocean to the west and the Ria de Aveiro water landscape to the east .
Praia da Vagueira is 90 km south of Porto and 60 km north of Figueira da Foz .
particularities
The extensive sandy beach of Vagueira is popular with bathers and surfers, especially near the pontoon , where it is protected from strong winds. On the long sandy beach, fishermen still practice an artful fishing method , the Arte Xávega . In order to pull the weighty nets through the water ashore, teams of oxen and tractors are used.
Because of its excellent environmental quality, this beach has been awarded the " Blue Flag " annually since 2009 and called the "Golden Beach" by the Portuguese environmental organization Quercus because of the high quality of the water .
