Internships PLC3

The Praktica PLC3 is a small picture - SLR of VEB Pentacon Dresden . It is a slightly improved variant of the Praktica PLC2 and has a brighter viewfinder image than this. Apart from a few details, it is also comparable to the MTL 3 and, like it, belongs to the Praktica -L series.

Main differences:

Function of the panel electrics:

The special electric lenses with M42 thread have three spring-loaded pins attached to the back. When the lens is screwed into the camera, these establish contact with three contact surfaces attached to the camera housing. A potentiometer is installed in the lens , the resistance of which changes depending on the aperture set. These contacts can be used to transmit the value of the set working aperture to the exposure meter in the camera housing, and exposure measurement is possible with the aperture open. The (big) advantage of a viewfinder image that is always bright is offset by the (small) disadvantage of the lack of control over the depth of field . Therefore, this lens series also enables conventional aperture measurement by switching (A / M).

The Praktica PLC models replaced Praktica LLC , which was the world's first SLR camera with open aperture measurement when it was launched in 1969. The series of Praktica L cameras with open aperture measurement also includes the Praktica VLC3 - previously VLC 2 - with an interchangeable viewfinder system and the fully electronic Praktica EE2 and later EE3 with automatic timing .

Further equipment that differs from the MTL 3

  • Power supply via PX 21 battery (4.5 V)
  • Bridge circuit to compensate for too low battery voltage

If the advantages of aperture electrics and open aperture measurement are to be fully exploited, it must be ensured that the correct electric accessories are used. For example, instead of the normal intermediate rings, those with electrical transmission must be used.
