Prakticar
Prakticar was a brand for lenses from VEB Pentacon , for the new Praktica -B cameras in the GDR .
Most lenses were available with both an M42 screw thread and a new design with a Praktica B bayonet. The fixed focal lengths came almost exclusively from the GDR and were manufactured in companies belonging to VEB Pentacon and VEB Kombinat Carl Zeiss Jena . The new 50mm f / 2.4 pancake lens was assembled in Romania for capacity reasons. For the first time there was a macro lens from Carl Zeiss Jena with the Macro-Prakticar 1: 2.8 / 55 mm and with the Prakticar 1: 1.4 / 50 mm a high-speed standard lens. In the GDR, Carl Zeiss only had the machine technology needed to manufacture zoom lenses in Jena. However, since this was already busy with the production of the Carl Zeiss Jena lenses, the Prakticar zoom lenses were obtained from abroad, preferably from Southeast Asia. Some of these lenses were produced by these manufacturers exclusively for the VEB Pentacon, others were produced there identically for other brands.
All external purchases were labeled with Prakticar. Most of the zoom lenses came from Samyang in South Korea. Other manufacturers included Sigma , Cosina , and Cimko . In West Germany, many Prakticar lenses were available under the Beroflex or Revueflex brands ( source ).
