Prasiolite

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
Prasiolite - rough stone

Prasiolite also green quartz , green amethyst or Vermarin called, is a leek-green, transparent variety of quartz .

The name is a combination of the Greek words πράσον prason for leek and λίθος lithos for stone , which means leek (colored) stone.

Due to its appealing color, prasiolite is a coveted gemstone . Since it is rarely found in nature - at a few sites in India , Russia and Zimbabwe - it is mainly made from amethyst or yellow quartz by burning (heating to around 500 ° C) . However, the color is fickle and fades over time in sunlight.
