Absolute time in pregroove

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Absolute Time in Pregroove (Latin American-English literally for "exact time in pre-groove", or ATIP forshort) is a description of the information in the pressed guide track on CD blanks ( CD-R and CD-RW ). At the beginning, this includes data on the start of the lead-in and the capacity of the blank. The manufacturer and the recommended writingstrategy can be derivedfrom the lead-in start time froma table in the drive. In addition, the guide track contains the continuous time information (hence the name) that the torch needs for positioning over the entire length. The fact that this information is stored as time has its origins in the fact that the CD was developed as an audio data carrier. In the case of blank DVDs, this information is now also saved as a consecutive address and is therefore called the address in the pregroove .
