Premium Harmony

Premium Harmony is the title of a short story by the American writer Stephen King that appeared in the collection Basar der böse Träume (2016) , which he announced on his homepage at the end of October 2009 and which was first published on the Internet a few days later.

After an argument between Ray Burkett and his wife Mary, she dies of a heart attack while shopping . Ray's reaction to this is more than frightening: he follows the work of the paramedics with complete indifference, speculates whether he would have a chance of sex with the store clerk, and feels disgust because the shopkeeper - a colored man - has his wife's mouth shut - Missed oral ventilation . When Ray realizes that he has forgotten his dog in the car, it is already too late: the summer heat has heated the car to over 50 degrees; the dog died.
