President (plum)
President is an ancient plum variety that was bred in Sawbridgeworth (in Hertfordshire in Great Britain ) in 1894 and cultivated from 1901. The variety has also been grown in Germany since the 1970s.

The large fruits ripen late from mid-September to mid-October, are ovate to elongated, reddish to dark purple and frosted when ripe. The flesh is yellow, juicy and easy to remove. In addition, the plum variety is resistant to Sharka disease .
The tree grows very strongly and requires pruning measures because the wood tends to be brittle and the tree to bare.
The “Empress” variety with a higher fruit quality was bred from the President .
