Press-fit technique fixation
The press-fit technique fixation is an operative procedure in surgery for anchoring total endo hip joint prostheses and cruciate ligament plasty after a cruciate ligament rupture , which does not require any foreign materials such as cement, screws or brackets.
The receptacle for the prosthesis in the thigh bone is prepared 1 to 2 mm too small, or a transplant (mostly from the semitendinosus tendon or patellar tendon ) with the help of a bony block in drill channels on the thigh and shin bone (BTB technique, bone tendon bone = 'bone -Tendon-Bone ') permanently fixed. The fit of the graft is guaranteed by the high friction of the connecting components. Mechanically, this is a press fit .
