Press Trust of India (PTI) is the oldest and largest Indian news agency . It is owned by Indian newspapers. Affiliated media include around 450 newspapers in India and many abroad, as well as all major Indian and several foreign television channels (including the BBC in London). The news service is offered in English and Hindi .

PTI emerged in 1947 from the Associated Press of India founded in 1910 , which was owned by Reuters from 1919 , and began its independent work in 1949. Since 1953 it has been completely independent of Reuters. It has also been offering its services in the USA and Great Britain since the 1980s and has been on the Internet since 1999.
