A public festival serving to finance and / or promote the distribution of press organs is referred to as a press festival . As a rule, a political message should be conveyed through an entertainment and especially music program, sympathizers should be recruited and contact and solidarity of like-minded people should be mobilized.

Well-known press festivals of the left include the Fête de l'Humanité , the Festa de L'Unità , the Vienna Volksstimmefest and the UZ press festival . In the GDR there were numerous, mostly annual, press festivals, such as in Berlin on Alexanderplatz . Recently, the instrument of the press festival has been used increasingly by the political right in parallel to others.
