Pretalize

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Pretalize was a village in the Magdeburg region .

The place, which had become deserted in the course of the Middle Ages , was mentioned in a letter of donation from Otto I on September 21, 937 as a gift from the king to the Mauritius monastery . The exact location is unknown. It is assumed that Pretalize was near the town of Fermersleben , which today belongs to the city of Magdeburg , so the name Pretalize is mentioned in the document between the names for Fermersleben ( Fridumaresleba ) and Buckau ( Buchavi ). However, an identity with the Brälitz desert near Wanzleben was also considered possible . An identity with the existing town of Prester , which was also proposed , was rejected, however.

In another document from the same time it is stated that at least eight Slavs lived in the place.
