Denel Pretoria Metal Pressings , abbreviated Denel PMP and just PMP, is a producer within the arms industry in Africa . He belongs to the South African group of companies Denel . More than 70% of the products are exported. Sports and hunting ammunition from PMP is also available in Germany .

history

The company has been active since 1931. Ammunition manufacture with the code of PMP has been proven since 1965. Before that, it also produced for the South African Mint (Pretoria, Republic of South Africa, ammunition code: SAM).

Throughout history, PMP has produced ammunition with different ammunition codes. Including the codes: SAM, A, RSA, PMP and various number abbreviations. The company's history is linked to the South African mint, which manufactured ammunition from 1937 to 1964. Until March 31, 1992 PMP was owned by the South African state company Armaments Corporation of South Africa (Armscor) , which in turn is the forerunner of Denel , which PMP has taken over.

Production areas

PMP's main products include civil and military ammunition in calibers from 5.56 mm to 12.7 mm and 20 mm to 35 mm.

Another business area is the production of brass . Every year over 25,000 t are produced for the production of cartridge cases within South Africa and for export.

Although there are other companies in the group that specialize in gun manufacture, PMP makes some guns . These include the large-caliber sniper rifle NTW-20 and the Neopup Personal Area Weapon .

Further products are explosives for use in fire extinguishing systems and for emergency opening of aircraft cockpits. In addition, explosives for mining and primers are produced.
