The NTW-20 is an anti-materiel rifle from Denel Land Systems, a South African manufacturer belonging to the Denel Group .
The weapon is intended for the inconspicuous combat of distant hard targets. This includes radar systems , tank systems, parked aircraft, etc.
It is a repeating rifle with a three-shot magazine that feeds from the left . The weapon has a pistol grip and another U-shaped grip under the butt to stabilize the weapon in the shot. There is a bipod at the front end of the housing. The barrel is equipped with a compensator and flash hider, the recoil reduction of which is reinforced by springs and a hydraulic piston. There is a massive handle above the Lynx 8 × 42 rifle scope.

The NTW-20 can be converted into the NTW-14.5 in the field without tools by changing the barrel, locking cylinder, magazine and optics, and vice versa. This is not possible with the NTW-20/110.
The 20 × 82 mm ammunition weighs 112 g and, at a muzzle velocity of 720 m / s, has an energy of 29,030 joules . This ammunition corresponds to the projectiles of the German MG 151/20 from the Second World War.
With a caliber of 14.5 × 114 mm , the projectile weighs 64 g and reaches an energy of around 37,325 joules at 1080 m / s . This ammunition corresponds to the projectiles of the Soviet anti- tank rifles PTRS / PTRD from the Second World War and the Soviet üsMG (super-heavy machine guns) from the post-war period. These calibres cause large wounds or destruction.
License construction
The Indian Ordnance Factory Tiruchirapalli (OFT) manufactures the NTW-20 as Vidhwansak in the calibers 12.7 × 99 mm NATO , 14.5 × 114 mm and 20 × 82 mm under license.
