Lists on the subject |
Mokopa is an anti-tank guided missile made by Denel . The system is also called ZT-6 Mokopa .
The Mokopa is a modular weapon system that can use various sensors and warheads . The rocket can be launched from helicopters, aircraft, ships, vehicles and fixed positions.
Denel currently offers two target acquisition sensors:
Once, a target can be marked with a laser from the starter device or another location . The homing sensor then picks up the laser beam and directs the missile into the target. The first part of the path can also be covered without the marking point being visible to the sensor if the required target information is transmitted from the marking device to the starting device via a corresponding data network (radio data transmission). The sensor is called a semi-active laser (SAL).
Second, an infrared sensor can detect the heat signature of a target and direct the missile there.
The warheads available are those with a high penetration depth (for ship targets), fragmentation and, of course, armor-piercing effects. The anti-tank missile with its tandem hollow charge and a theoretical penetration depth of 1350 mm armor steel RHA can also be used against heavy battle tanks.
The Mokopa rocket is cylindrical. Four small, triangular control surfaces with flattened outward-pointing tips are attached to the level of the front weapon mount. There are also four control surfaces at the rear of the weapon, but they are larger and divided into two parts. The tip is shaped differently depending on the sensor system. Tapered and with a round end in the SAL version and only with a round end in the infrared variant.
The Rooivalk attack helicopter can launch up to 16 Mokopa missiles.
