Rochus Chapel

Chapel of St. Rochus

The small single-nave brick chapel has a gable roof from 1747. The inscription on the stone slab on the door "S ROCHE / A 1747 E" means: "Erected for St. Roch in 1747". The foundation stone for an extension of the church in the neo-romantic style took place on October 20, 1921. The small church was expanded to include a transept and a choir designed by the architect Voss (Kevelaer). Inside there is a 156 cm almost life-size colored figure of Saint Roch from the 18th century.

Chapel in Geniel

The small brick chapel from 1655 was added to the list of monuments on May 9, 1989 under the number A 55. A capella in Nyll is documented from 1500. The altarpiece, an oil painting by Mathias Boers from 1926, shows Saint Anthony with a pig in front of the Geniel Chapel.

In addition to the sacred buildings, the former dairy (Genieler Strasse 1, no. A 55) and the former “border guards' house” (Rochusweg 4–6, no. A 207) are on the list of monuments.

economy

The main part of the economy consists of growing and selling flowers. These are mainly azaleas and heather plants. These are sustainably produced in large numbers in various companies and nurseries.
