The Prussian ES 6 was an electric locomotive of the Prussian State Railways for multi-purpose use.

construction

The first external cooling was decisive for the locomotive and the progress in German electric locomotive development in order to prevent the damage that had previously occurred with the previous models. The design with only one end operator's cab was characteristic of this machine.

history

The ES 6 was delivered in spring 1914 and, after a few tests, had to go to an exhibition in Malmö from Bw Bitterfeld. While the locomotive was parked during the war, it was reactivated and used for further journeys. Due to its robust construction and the small drive wheels, the locomotive proved itself more in passenger and freight train service than in the case of express trains. However, the increasing tensile loads also exceeded the capabilities of this machine, so that in 1923 it was converted into a converter for the Marken substation.
