Maria Isabel Preysler Arrastia (born February 18, 1951 in Manila , Philippines ) is a Filipino-Spanish journalist and former model. As the wife of Julio Iglesias , she enjoyed great popularity in Spain. Today she is a journalist for the Spanish magazine ¡Hola! .

Life

Isabel Preysler was born in Manila (Philippines) to a wealthy, conservative Spanish-Filipino mestizo family . From a very early age, Isabel took part in beauty pageants and won the beauty title coveted by Filipinos. She is also known in the Spanish press as the Reina del Glamor (Queen of Glamor ). She is also the mother of international pop star Enrique Iglesias .

At the age of 18, Isabel moved to Madrid to study at a prestigious Roman Catholic university . In 1970 she met Julio Iglesias at a party in Madrid through a friend of the family , who was still dreaming of a great career as a singer. The two fell in love immediately and got married after just seven months of relationship. During their seven-year marriage, their children Chábeli, Julio José and the singer Enrique Iglesias were born.

In 1978, Isabel and Julio Iglesias got divorced. Isabel then followed her career as a journalist for the Spanish magazine ¡Hola! (Her first interview partner was her ex-husband Julio Iglesias.) A daughter named Tamara Isabel comes from her second marriage to the large landowner Marqués de Griñón, which existed from 1980 to 1983. From 1988 until his death in 2014, she was married to Spanish economist and former socialist economy minister, Miguel Boyer , with whom she has a daughter named Ana Isabel. In June 2015, her current relationship with the writer and Nobel Prize winner for literature, Mario Vargas Llosa, became known.

Isabel Preysler, often referred to as La Perla De Manila (The Pearl of Manilas), was named the best-dressed Spanish woman in 1991, 2002 and 2004. In 1984 she moderated the Spanish lifestyle magazine Hoy (English: Today). She is still under contract as a model with some companies, such as Ferrero Rocher, Suarez Juwelen, the Spanish tile company Porcelanosa etc. In May 2001 she was a guest of Prince Charles to open a Spanish garden in Great Britain .
