Primus Omnium

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

The Primus Omnium was the official name for the best high school graduate in a high school until the 1930s .

So he was the primus or the prima (first) of all primi (of all class best) ( Latin primus omnium primorum ) of this school. In Baden-Württemberg , every Primus Omnium has been awarded the Scheffel Prize of the Karlsruhe Literary Society since the 1950s (later the best high school graduate in German).

In general, it was (and is) customary at many grammar schools to give an award to the best high school graduate. In the past, these were often particularly lavishly integrated books (so-called school price books ).
