Prince of Hesse half bastion
The Prince-of-Hesse half-bastion was built in memory of Prince Georg of Hesse-Darmstadt and dedicated to him, as he conquered Gibraltar for the British and was the first governor there. The half-bastion is owned by the Government of Gibraltar.

The Prince of Hesse Half-Bastion is part of the northern defenses of Gibraltar as part of the chain of bastions at the northwest end of the rock . Below the King's Lines Battery and the Bombproof Battery . Above the Moorish Castle completes the line.
history
Originally the bastion was named after Saint Peter in Spanish times. The old Spanish bastion was renovated and rebuilt and named after Prince George by the British in 1930. In 1762, during the Seven Years War , she was armed with two 18-pounders and four 4-pounder cannons to protect the trench of the landside gate of Gibraltar. In 1885 there were 32 pounders.
