Prionus is a genus of beetles from the family of the longhorn beetles (Cerambycidae) within the subfamily Prioninae . It occurs in Europe with three types, in Central Europe only the sawhorse ( Prionus coriarius ) occurs.

features

The side edge of the pronotum has a sharp edge and is provided with three thorns. The belly is unrimmed and arched on the sides. The epipleurs on the wings are narrow and slightly wider towards the front. They touch the shoulder bumps. The antennae have twelve limbs and are weak in the female, strongly serrated in the male.

Occurrence and way of life

The larvae develop on roots.
