The Private Label Manufacturers Association (PLMA) (German: Private Label Manufacturers Association ) was founded in 1979 as a non-profit organization and represents more than 4,000 member companies around the world (as of May 2017). It is the only organization of its kind. It includes multinational companies as well as small, family-owned businesses. These companies' product lines include retail items (food, beverages, snacks, health and beauty products, household and kitchen items, home improvement items, and personal and leisure products). Some manufacturers are exclusively on trademarks specialized, others are well-known brand manufacturers , who also produce private labels.

PLMA's headquarters are in New York City , and a branch, the PLMA International Council , is in Amsterdam .

Today the organization is available to the affiliated manufacturers in more than 70 countries with its services, and in addition to three annual trade shows in Europe, the USA, and China, the PLMA also offers conferences, training programs for managers, market studies and publications.

Events

In order to make it easier for members to contact retailers on other continents, PLMA organizes the annual international trade fair “World of Private Label” in Amsterdam in May, the United States’s private label trade fair in Chicago in November and the “Shanghai Private Label” trade fair in December Fair “in China. PLMA held the first trade show in the US in 1980 and in Europe in 1986.
