Meiringen private clinic

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

The private clinic Meiringen is a private hospital in Meiringen , Canton Bern , which has existed since 1919.

history

The origin of the private clinic Meiringen lies in the thermal spring discovered in the 15th century . In 1687 the canton of Bern granted a concession to operate the Williger baths (from the Meiringen district of Willigen ). The Hotel Des Alpes and the Hotel Reichenbach were built on the site in the 17th and 18th centuries. After the First World War , the houses went bankrupt and were taken over by a bank.

In 1916 Fritz Michel-Moser submitted a request to the banking authorities. "The entire hotel property is to be rebuilt and set up for the reception, treatment and catering of mentally and mentally ill people ." In cooperation with the canton and the cantonal bank, Fritz Michel succeeded in converting it to a clinic, and on January 8, 1919, the institution at the time admitted the first patient. In 1946 the actual privatization took place when the second Michel generation, the brothers Heinz, Alexander and Adolf, acquired the property from the Cantonal Bank of Bern, founded a family stock company and renewed the contract with the Canton of Bern.

The clinic is run by the family of Adolf Michel and the descendants of Heinz and Alexander Michel. The third generation is now involved in management: Andreas Michel as CEO and President of the Board of Directors and Alexander Michel junior as Board member.
