Willigen is the core settlement of the community of Schattenhalb in the canton of Bern , Switzerland. The village lies on the same valley floor as the district capital Meiringen south of the Aare and northeast of the Reichenbach Falls .
From Willigen you can reach the western entrance to the Aare gorge . The main road continues to Innertkirchen , the base of the Grimsel and Susten pass , through Willigen. The Reichenbach near Meiringen district also belongs to the village .
