Pro Mente Sana

Pro Mente Sana (Latin for a healthy mind ) is a Swiss foundation.

Thanks to an anonymous donation, the foundation was established in 1978 by the doctor Paul Plattner (1907–1980). Today the foundation is financed with public contributions from the federal government, cantons and municipalities, with private donations as well as with income from services and the foundation's capital. According to its own statements, the foundation is politically and religiously independent.

Foundation purpose

The foundation stands up for the concerns of mentally ill people as well as against prejudice and disadvantage. It solicits public understanding for mentally ill people, promotes self-help and advocates empowerment and recovery- oriented treatment offers. Pro Mente Sana fights for the rights as well as the social and professional integration of those affected. It promotes and supports projects and services that are based on the right to self-determination .
