Beatrice Schumacher

Beatrice Schumacher (* 1963 ) is a Swiss historian .

Beatrice Schumacher studied history, art history and German linguistics at the University of Basel from 1983 to 1990 . From 1994 she completed her doctoral studies in Basel as well as at the HU Berlin and the Technical University of Berlin, which she successfully completed in 2000. Her doctoral thesis is entitled “Holidays. Interpretations and popularization of a need, Switzerland 1890–1950 ”(published 2002). Since her doctorate, she has been working as a freelance historian, author and lecturer. From 2012–2015 she was the managing director of the Basel History Association.
