Megan Abbott
Megan Abbott (born August 21, 1971 in Detroit , Michigan ) is an American writer who writes crime novels and short stories.
Life
Megan Abbott grew up in the suburbs of Detroit, studied at the University of Michigan and received her PhD in Anglo-American literature from New York University . Since 2005 she has written novels and short stories as well as essays and reviews for numerous media outlets such as the New York Times , the Guardian , the Los Angeles Times and Elle . She was a lecturer at various universities and was appointed John Grisham Writer-in-Residence at the University of Mississippi for 2013-14.
With The End of Everything , Abbott began to focus on young teenage girls thematically. The novel was the only one of her to appear in German. After a translation by Isabel Bogdan , it was published in 2012 by the Cologne publisher Kiepenheuer & Witsch under the German title Das Ende der Innschuld .
Abbott is married to the writer Joshua Gaylord and lives in Queens, New York .
