Laura Lippman
Laura Lippman (* 1959 in Atlanta , Georgia ) is an American journalist and crime novel writer with journalist and private investigator Tess Monaghan as the main character.
Life
Laura Lippman was born in Atlanta in 1959, the daughter of a journalist and a librarian. The family moved to the Washington DC area in 1961 and on to Baltimore in 1965 . After leaving school, she studied journalism at Northwestern University's Medill School of Journalism . From 1981 she worked as a journalist at the Tribune-Herald in Waco , Texas , and in 1983 moved to the San Antonio Light in San Antonio , Texas. She has been writing for the Baltimore Sun since 1989 , where her father was also employed until 1995. Her first novel, Baltimore Blues , was published in 1997. She is married to screenwriter and producer David Simon .
