Rehearsal (performance)

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

A rehearsal is the joint practice of a process before a performance or a film production . In addition to the artists, the other participants such as the film staff and the stage technicians (e.g. lighting foremen ) also rehearse . The goal is the perfect performance of a work.

Rehearsals should bring a certain routine and serve security during the demonstration as well as the discussion of the last points of criticism. Partial aspects are the fluidity of the process as well as the testing of organizational (light, sound, mechanics) or technical concepts ( stage technology ) beyond the project phase.

Rehearsals at the theater

Regular rehearsals are held with or without a marked (only hinted) decoration, in music theater usually with piano accompaniment by a répétiteur . Seat rehearsals do not take place on the stage (e.g. in the rehearsal room), stage rehearsals are also called scenic rehearsals. In the final phase of the rehearsal period, there are rehearsals in the form of the tutti rehearsal (rehearsal with full cast) and the general rehearsal , the last rehearsal before the actual performance. At the latest at the dress rehearsal, rehearsals will take place with as few interruptions as possible under the final conditions (mask, costumes, possibly music, prompter , scenery , etc.). The premiere follows after the rehearsal . Larger theaters often have a smaller rehearsal stage because the main stage is occupied at the same time.

Band rehearsals

Band rehearsals are usually arranged independently among the band members. The band leader takes on the role of conductor and thus the musical direction.
