The Proctolin (English synonymous) refers to a five amino acids existing neuropeptide (H-Arg-Tyr-Leu-Pro-Thr-OH), which in insects for the neuromuscular junctions of the Proctodealnerven than in the region of the rectum neurotransmitter functions.

In addition, Proctolin has also been shown to be widespread immunologically in the central nervous system of insects and even vertebrates. A general neurotransmitter function is ascribed to it.
