Proexes
Proexes († after 327 BC) was a governor of Alexander the Great in Asia.
Proexes was of Persian descent and probably already served in the administration of the Achaemenid Empire . For the first time, however, he is mentioned as a follower of Alexander, when Alexander met him during his campaign in 329 BC. Appointed satrap of the area of the Paropamisads , which also gave him control of the Hindu Kush. This province was probably a new foundation by Alexander, as it was not mentioned before among the Persian kings. A Macedonian episkopos (overseer) named Neiloxenos, son of Satyros, was provided with a contingent of troops at his side. In 327 BC Proexes was replaced from his office and replaced by Tyriespis .
