Identification code programs

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

The Program Identification Code , also known as the PI code , is broadcast in Europe by VHF radio stations as an identifier and enables assignment to a program chain. One possible application is the search for alternative reception frequencies for a program, for example for receivers in motor vehicles .

The 16- bit code is transmitted 11.4 times per second within the radio data system and interpreted as a four-digit hexadecimal character string.

The structure of the code is specified in EN 50067 .

  • The country / state is coded in the first digit.
    • Germany: D or 1
    • Austria: A
    • Switzerland: 4
  • The second position describes the transmission range.
  • The third digit is used in Germany to encrypt the state.
  • The fourth digit is the program number.
