content

The action takes place in Berlin.

The police officers are Commissioner Rogge, Senior Criminal Secretary Jungklaus, and Criminal Secretary Schneider.

Monday the 12th of January

Sabine Stockmann and Manfred Drechsel drive through West Berlin in a Ford 17M deLuxe P2 , registration number D-KL 198. A police patrol stopped them and warned them because they drove 60 km / h instead of the permitted 50 km / h. Drechsel had Stockmann stop across from an exchange office in Moabit, got out, had East currency exchanged for West currency there, put on sunglasses and then threatened the cashier with a pistol at the front. She screams for help. He leaves the bank with a bag full of money. While the police arrive and question witnesses, Stockmann and Drechsel drive nervously and at high speed through Berlin.

The police are looking for the testimony

  • a perpetrator who is armed
  • a woman, around 25 years old, with short, light blonde, almost white hair, a dark sweater and fur coat,

and after a Ford 17M deLuxe four-door with license plate B-KL 128.

Two people on the plane to Hamburg who fit the description later turn out to be harmless.

Drechsel decides to hand over the bag with the money to the luggage storage in the Bahnhof Zoo . He puts the baggage ticket in Stockmann's hand.

The police found the car with registration number B-KL 128. It's a delivery truck that hasn't driven in three days.

Stockmann gets a suitcase. Then she changes clothes in a public toilet: black hair and a winter jacket instead of a fur coat.

The police extended the search to all Ford Taunus 17M deLuxe four-door, color silver gray / anthracite gray.

Stockmann loses her luggage ticket at the train station.

Drechsel spends the evening in a bar. Stockmann spends the night at home, in the shared apartment (pension) where she lives with Drechsel and two other men.

Tuesday the 13th of January

An attentive witness reports the Ford 17M parked at Wittenbergplatz to the police the next morning. A boy from the neighborhood saw that a "nice bee" had parked the car the night before. The police found the sunglasses in the car. Then she moves away, but watches the car. When Stockmann opens the car, Inspector Rogge arrests her. She admits it's her car.

The police find her fiancé in their file: Manfred Drechsel. He is wanted to begin his sentence. They publish a search call and guard the four exits from Berlin: Zoo (train station) , Tempelhof (airport) , Dreilinden, Staaken ( street ).

Drechsel had gone to bed after a night at home. After Stockmann was arrested, his roommates woke him up. He has had his hair cut since then and wants to go into hiding while the newspapers report on the bank robbery and him.

Rogge finds a trunk key in Stockmann's handbag, but it doesn't fit any of Stockmann's suitcases in the guesthouse.

Wednesday the 14th of January

The next morning, Drechsel's picture is on the wanted posters. Stockmann has admitted that Drechsel carried out the bank robbery and that they then drove to Wittenbergplatz, but is silent about the whereabouts of the money.

Drechsel thinks about how he can get out of Berlin. In Dreilinden he finds a driver who is willing to take him over the Autobahn to Germany - for around 1,000 marks. To do this, however, he has to get the money in the station. The luggage attendant is gracious and makes him search the luggage racks twice for his bag. But he doesn't find it. Nonetheless, he gives the supervisor a tip, which is so generous - 20 marks - that the supervisor is furious. Attracted by the clamor, the officer who is supposed to search the departures in the zoo for Drechsler comes over, recognizes Drechsler and calls his colleagues, who then arrest him.

After Stockmann found out that her fiancé had been arrested, she admitted where the money was: she had stowed the bag with her suspicious clothes in a suitcase and handed it over to the luggage counter at the station, but then lost the luggage ticket.
