The Progymnasium Tailfingen (short: PGT ) is located in the Albstadt district of Tailfingen and is a general high school with a natural science and a linguistic element that is only missing in the last two years of the course level. There are currently 283 students in twelve classes (levels 5–10) at the Progymnasium . The PGT, together with the Lammerberg Realschule, forms the Lammerberg school center, which jointly uses the natural science wing. Since summer 2019, the PGT has been fundamentally renovated by the architectural office Kilian & Partner. For this reason, classes are currently taking place in the alternative quarters of the former Gollé-Haug building. The planned return of the school is planned for the school year 2021/22.
School profile
The first foreign language is English (from grade 5). In grade 6, French follows as a second foreign language, while Spanish can be chosen as a third foreign language. In the 7th grade you can choose between two profiles. From grade 8, the PGT offers the scientific profile with the subject natural science and technology and the foreign language-oriented profile with the subject Spanish. The Progymnasium is a G8 grammar school, which prepares the Abitur after the 12th grade .
founding
The Progymnasium was planned in 1968 by the Stuttgart architect Wilhelm & Schwarz. The concrete building clad with black artificial slate with its twelve flat roofs on nine levels was built into the mountainside. In 1971 the construction was completed and the first classes could be taught in the Progymnasium.
