Project 18280

The Project 18280 or Yuri Ivanov-Class is a series of modern Russian SIGINT - reconnaissance ships .

Russia plans to build a total of four ships of this class. The two existing ships were built in the Severnaya shipyard in Saint Petersburg .

The first ship, the Yuri Ivanov , was laid down in 2004 and put into service on September 30, 2013, initially for test purposes. The plans come from the engineering company OAO Zentralnoje Konstruktorskoje bjuro Ajsberg . The type ship of the class is characterized by a high degree of automation and integration of the systems. The second ship of the class, the Iwan Churs , entered service on May 16, 2017.
