The Iwan Churs ( Russian Иван Хурс ) is a SIGINT - reconnaissance ship of the Russian naval fleet . It is the second ship in the Yuri Ivanov class (Project 18280) , a series of four planned, modern reconnaissance vessels of the Russian armed forces.

The ship was named after Vice Admiral Iwan Kusmitsch Churs , a former admiral of the Russian naval fleet who was honored for his services in Russian naval reconnaissance. Like its sister ship , the Yuri Ivanov , the ship is used for surveillance and telecommunications reconnaissance of enemy control technology and electronic warfare.

The 95 meter long ship has a displacement of 4,000 tons. At a speed of 16 knots, the Iwan Churs has a range of 8,000 nautical miles . There is a crew of 120 seafarers, reconnaissance technicians and GRU employees on board .

The ship entered service in May 2017.
