Project portfolio

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

A project portfolio is understood to be a set of projects that are coordinated jointly (see project portfolio management ) in order to create greater benefits for a company than if these projects were viewed independently of one another.

It is advisable to bundle those projects of a company into a project portfolio that

  • can be assigned to an organization or a closed part of an organization,
  • are comparable
  • Have dependencies on each other (in terms of content, resources, client),
  • When viewed in an integrated manner, synergies and potential result.

The program must be distinguished from the project portfolio. While a project portfolio is usually set up without a time limit, a program includes specific, content-dependent projects and is usually also over when they are completed.
