The Project Management Agency Energy, Technology, Sustainability (ETN) was founded in 1991 and was one of two project management organizations that belonged to Forschungszentrum Jülich GmbH until May 30, 2020 . Since June 1, 2020, ETN has been integrated into the Jülich project management organization and forms one of two PtJ business areas in the newly created business area "Research and Society NRW".

history

Initially exclusively concerned with the promotion of renewable energies, ETN has developed into a project management agency that, with around 80 employees, deals with a wide range of funding topics in North Rhine-Westphalia. Together with the project management company Jülich , ETN has set up the LeitmarktAgentur.NRW , which the state of North Rhine-Westphalia used as one of nine intermediary bodies for the current OP ERDF NRW in a transparent selection process. The abbreviation stands for the “Operational Program of North Rhine-Westphalia for the Promotion of Investments in Growth and Employment from the European Regional Development Fund” for 2014 to 2020. At the celebration of the 25th anniversary in September 2016, the ministers of the State of North Rhine-Westphalia Barbara Steffens (health, emancipation, care and old age) and Johannes Remmel (climate protection, environment, agriculture, nature and consumer protection).

tasks

In addition to energy research, ETN oversees projects on climate protection, new mobility, electromobility, the health industry, and regional funding projects. Equality aspects and digitization processes are firmly anchored as cross-cutting issues at ETN.

For those interested in funding, ETN offers free advice on funding issues. ETN examines sketches, processes and approves applications for research funding, accompanies projects from application to completion and pays out funding. The funding of research projects in North Rhine-Westphalia is usually managed through competitive tenders.

ETN currently supports 766 projects with a total funding volume of EUR 274.2 million (as of September 6, 2018)

As part of the OP ERDF NRW, LeitmarktAgentur.NRW realizes funding competitions in eight lead markets and in the area of climate protection. The research and development projects selected in these competitions are jointly funded by the European Union and North Rhine-Westphalia and approved by the LeitmarktAgentur.NRW as well as supervised during the term.
